Europa Clipper Arrival at Jupiter
April 11, 2030 at 12:00 AM UTC
Mission Overview
NASA’s Europa Clipper mission will conduct detailed reconnaissance of Jupiter’s moon Europa to investigate whether the icy moon could harbor conditions suitable for life. Scientific evidence suggests that beneath Europa’s icy crust lies a vast, salty ocean with more water than all of Earth’s oceans combined. The spacecraft, equipped with nine scientific instruments, will perform nearly 50 flybys of Europa, some as low as 25 kilometers above the surface. It will study the moon’s geology, composition, and the potential for a sub-surface habitable environment, helping us answer the age-old question: "Are we alone in the universe?"
